Takumi KATO | Tokyo Djembe Factory (TDF)

Takumi KATO
Takumi started learning playing Djembe and other African music instruments, making instruments, maintenance at Motherland Music, Los Angeles, USA in 2000. Since then he visits the Republic of Mali almost every year and deepens his knowledge about African music and rooted culture.

Not only playing & teaching music instruments, his passion extends to collaborate with locals in Mali to produce one of a kind djembe shells and build it up with his hands. His creation is available at Tokyo Djembe Factory (a.k.a. TDF), Machiya, Tokyo. TDF drums absorb his passion and soul, bring great joy to your djembe learning journey.

He is a member of Tamtam Gakudan & Barubora and regularly performs in Japan.

Nikko KATO | Africa-Ya in Tokyo

Nikko KATO
Nikko is one of the established African Dancers in Japan and has been teaching African dance for more than a decade all over Japan. She visits the Republic of Mali almost every year to deepen her skill & knowledge of African dance and to capture the trend there. Her creativity also blooms in making fashion items at Africa-Ya (African clothes Tailor) in Machiya, Tokyo, Japan.

Her energetic dance fascinates audiences so much. She is a member of Tamtam Gakudan & Barubora and regularly performs in Japan.
